John Ziegler talk radio show to me seems a little extreme, yes there are many people out there doing what he does, making strong statements to keep listeners attentive and wanting more.
I feel that the talk radio I listen to is a bit different now. I listen to WEEI a good amount and it seems as if they have made a transition into letting the listener make an extremely bold statement instead of the radio hosts. For example last week when Kendrick Perkins was traded from the Celtics a listener called up and called Perkins a "stiff" the radio host completely disagreed with what the guy said, but immediately there were people calling trashing the listener who disrespected Perkins. It seems to me that many radio talk shows out there now are picking interesting topics from the news, adding a certain amount of input and letting the listeners comment on the story. By doing this I feel that WEEI and others have created a station where listeners feel they can call in, have their voice heard, and react to other listeners comments. I feel that this is becoming more common and is a great plan in keeping listeners attentive. It seems that if there are two styles the John Ziegler style who's job it is to keep the conversation stimulated and to provide a catalyst for his audience and then there is the WEEI where it seems as if it is more important what the listener has to say.
