Wikipedia

The Wikipedia assignment for this week was different. I had never posted on Wikipedia before and actually had no idea how to do it. After I quickly signed up for an account on the Wikipedia website it was really quick to post something on an existing page.
I chose to post on one of my favorite old time golfers page Davis Love III. I read over his page and decided that I would post about his PGA Championship win in 1997. It took me about 10 minutes to write the piece on Love and only about a minute to post it. I looked back on my work and thought I did a good job but my edit was taken down in all of about 5 minutes. I reviewed why it was taken down and a user told me due to the lack of sources. I thought it was a pretty good little tidbit of information on a historic golfer and a historic golf tournament however the other user did not. I was angered by him deleting my work from the page and quickly posted it again, and again it was taken down. However, this time the other user sent me this page long list of why my post wasn't correct for Wikipedia. The user's information was useful and allowed for me to correct my mistakes and re-post my entry.
This assignment was interesting I now know how to post on Wikipedia and how to make sure it stays up. I now know how Wikipedia can be useful and how to make sure the things I read on Wikipedia are accurate by checking the sources. I like the user friendly part of Wikipedia and it was pretty cool to add something that everyone could see.
