Anonymous posts are still a very relevant topic on the Internet as shown with this assignment. With Christopher "Moot" Poole's talk on the subject a couple weeks ago at the SXSW conference. On the subject of anonymous comments I tend to disagree with Poole. I still tend to believe that people are more true to who they are when their name is attached to their comment. Poole was quoted as saying "“Anonymity is authenticity, It allows you to share in a completely unvarnished, unfiltered, raw way.” With this quote he has a point, I believe in a persons ability to leave a comment with anonymity but for me I rather visit a website where comments are left with a person backing them up. I believe that when a person sticks by there comments a better conversation stimulates and you have an overall more informing experience.
I liked how Jennings told the story. He introduced the topic and gave a short synopsis of what the blog posts were about. Jennings introduces different viewpoints and allows the reader to experience the different feelings from different viewpoints. I enjoyed how he put the posts together, by adding multiple posts some with the same viewpoint on anonymous comments and then some with the totally opposite viewpoint, it let the reader make a decision on the topic for themselves. I felt as if Jennings gave no bias in how he put together the collection of posts and by putting the video at the end it let the viewer read through the posts, gain viewpoints from both perspectives, and then watch Poole’s presentation. I thought by doing this Jennings really let the viewer make their own decision on anonymous comments and see Poole’s side of the story. I really enjoyed how Jennings put together this story.
