Call To WEEI

For the assignment to call into a talk radio show I chose to call into WEEI. I am an avid listener of all shows on WEEI and really enjoy and appreciate sports talk radio. I really like the new Big Show and it generally carries over to Planet Mikey which I also enjoy. I was listening last Wednesday the day of Randy Moss' comments on how he would love to be a Patriot again and I found this to be the perfect opportunity.

It was around 6:00 the Big Show had just ended and Planet Mikey had just taken over. There was a Celtics game at 7 so the show was only going to be on for an hour. Right before I was about to call, Mike Adams commented that the phones were not filling up and this was the time to call. I endangered traffic trying to dial the number for WEEI which is a very complicated number and is usually only said once on air and it usually goes very fast but, I dialed the number and was greeted by the WEEI Screening producer who took down my name and where I was, and what my comment was going to be about. I think I got through the producer quickly because there were few callers and I had a little different question, usually on the show most of the questions are about the Celtics, Red Sox, and an occasional Bruins question.

I only waited for a couple minutes and was quickly on. I basically stated that I was a big Randy Moss fan, and was sad to see him go last year, and that I thought bringing him back may be in the interest of the Patriots. I was on for about a minute and a half with a small amount of back and forth between Mike and I. He was on the side that it is unlikely the Patriots would bring Moss back but he saw the benefits I talked about if they did. He brought up many points on how Moss left and how that may have ruined his chances of coming back. I ended the conversation talking about how I felt a driven Randy Moss has always proved that he is still able to play, that Randy Moss would always make people around him better, and that I felt Randy Moss wouldn't mess up another opportunity here in New England.

No other caller commented on my call, and the conversation was switched back to the Celtics game that was taking place that evening as they were struggling at the time. I really enjoy WEEI, I think I like to listen more to the radio hosts than the actual people due to the fact that most people don't know a whole lot about sports and just like to hear themselves talk. I really like talking sports with people and I believe if the right topic came up I would call into WEEI again.
